It’s almost impossible to be bored on the Sunshine Coast with beautiful beaches, coastal walks, animals and markets galore. But if you find you want to take a break from lounging on the beach all day, try out some of these kid friendly activities on the Sunshine Coast.
Learn to Surf Schools
You can’t visit the Sunshine Coast without trying out one of the many learn to surf schools. The locals that run these programs have a passion for surfing like no other, and truly love sharing the experience with kids. Australia Zoo
Of course Australia Zoo has to be included in this article. Owned and run by Steve Irwin’s family Terri, Bindi and Bob the crocodile hunter lives on in this well loved zoo. There’s plenty to see and do including watching the infamous crocodile shows, animal feeding and more.
Strawberry Fields
If your kids are getting restless why not break up the day with strawberry picking at Strawberry Fields? You can grab a basket from the shop and roam freely through the fields. It’s simple really, you pay for what you pick. While you’re here treat the kids to their home made strawberry ice cream from the cafe and grab yourself a caffeinated pick – me – up.
Maleny Dairy Farm Tours
Another great trip for kids is the Maleny Dairy Farm Tour. It’s suitable for all ages with opportunities to watch the cows being milked, feed the animals, and of course taste the produce. The Dairy encourages you to make a day out of it by bringing your own picnic or using their BBQs to cook make lunch while your kids explore the property.
Bli Bli Aqua Park
Bli Bli is the Sunshine Coast’s best value and most fun water park. It’s a huge, floating blow up obstacle course complete with slides, trampolines, tunnels and more. Everyone is given a life jacket and there are trained lifeguards stationed throughout the park. The park also offers stand up paddle boarding and has loads of BBQs and picnic areas for it’s visitors. If cooking is not your thing, then Bli Bli has a licensed cafe and bar on offer as well. The park contains complete shower and restroom facilities and is in the same complex as the Bli Bli Wake park, if you’re up for more faced paced activities.
Gardners Falls
If you want a day away from the beach try a family trip to Gardners Falls. They are easily accessible and always flowing. Parking may be a bit tough on the weekend but once you’re sorted it’s a great place to spend the day swimming and exploring. Consider bringing a picnic with you and staying most of the day.
