Byron is a great place for a family holiday. Here is a list of fun and exciting activities that will keep the kids entertained on your next Byron getaway.
A Day at Clarkes Beach
A day at the beach might sound like a simple suggestion, but what could be a better family activity than setting up for a day on the sand, with a packed lunch and maybe a spot of beach cricket? While there are plenty of family friendly beaches in Byron we recommend Clarkes as it usually has relaxed and easy swimming conditions as well as a number of tide pool which are great for younger children.
Learn to Surf
If your kids are wanting to try something new and exciting on their holiday, sign them up for surfing lessons. This is a great way to keep them entertained for a full day and will tire them out for the evening. Plus they will gain a great new skill, and likely some new friends.
Kayaking with Dolphins
A great activity for the whole family, rent out some Kayaks and get some paddling in on the calm clear waters of Cape Byron Marine Park. This specific tour includes the promise of dolphin sightings and all equipment is provided. The tour will take you to a quiet secluded beach where you will stop for some Tim Tams and tea.
Snorkelling with Sea Turtles
Only a short five minute boat ride from Byron Bay, Julian rocks is home to three different species of sea turtle. Spend a special family day out in the presence of these incredible creatures. If you’re lucky you’ll probably run into some other creatures including the rare and beautiful manta ray.
Bush Walks to the Lighthouse
Spend a day out, getting some exercise and making the most of the stunning Byron scenery. This bush walk is very popular with tourists as it provides you with a stunning view from the Byron headland not to mention plenty of native wild life including Kangaroos, dolphins and in the right season, whales. It is an easy walk that is very accessible for families.
